Pumpkins and Costumes and Halloween

Sample Picture from 2008

Happy Fall! I love this time of year when the weather starts cooling off. I made Molly's costume- She is going to be a cute black cat. She loves to walk around and say, "Meeeooowwww" so it's purrfect... I LOVE how she drags out the "Meeeooowwww"! Making a costume Girly is difficult and I think it's a must (being the mother of a girl with just a little bit of hair) So I added a black tutu and a pink ball of yarn. Here she is testing out our new pink paper background. Can you guess what she is saying?

So, I thought I would earn my keep here on the BLOG and get you last minute shoppers a jump start this year on some ideas for sibling or family costumes. How cute to show off matching kids costumes.

Matching Costume Ideas
1. Condiments. You can have matching costumes consisting of picnic condiments such as ketchup and mustard for a really cute combination. For multiple children, you can expand this theme by including relish, mayo, or other favorite condiment.

2. Flapper and Gangster. This classic combination will enable your daughter to dress as a girly-girl. Your son will love being a classic 20's gangster with a tough-guy edge. Check out local thrift stores to find costume pieces and accessories. For multiple children, you can have several flappers and gangsters.

3. Firefighter and Dalmatian Dog. This is a great combination for younger children, particularly if one child is an infant or toddler. Dress the younger child in a dalmatian costume and dress the older child as a firefighter. For multiple children, you can have an entire firehouse company!

4. Crow and Sunflower. Pair up these classic autumn images in a perfectly original combination. Dress up your little girl to be a cute sunflower or sunflower princess. Dress up your little guy to be the crow.

5. Matching Scarecrows. You can really customize this Halloween boy/girl costume set by making it yourself. You can choose colored raffia for the scarecrow stuffing and be really creative with the shirt material and embellishments. Sew on patches for an authentic feel.

6. M&M's. Dressing up like a favorite candy is a fun idea for children. Each child can pick his or her favorite color of M&M. This is a great idea for families with multiple children.

7. Characters from The Wizard of OZ. Dorthy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Toto, The Good Witch and The Wicked Witch. (Don't forget about flying Monkeys)

8. Old MacDonald and his farm animals. A cow or horse a pig or a lamb.

9. Cat and mouse. This would be a cute one for kids that are active and love to run around and chase each other.

10. Rock Stars from the 80's- There are so many 80's clothes out now that they can wear parts of their costume after Halloween!
